The Morakniv Companion HeavyDuty is a powerful tool for bushcrafters, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. The knife has a slightly thicker blade of carbon steel with high load capacity that is easily resharpened. The Companion HeavyDuty features a thick, 1/8-Inch (3.2mm) Carbon steel blade with a slightly blunter 27 degree edge angle for high load capacity and maximum sharpness resistance. The Companion HD has an extra large ergonomic handle with a soft high-friction grip. The classic scandi grind combined with high quality carbon steel makes the knife easy to resharpen.
Morakniv knives achieve high hardness, sharpen easily and are exceptionally tough. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and frequent regrinding. The material is harder than stainless steel, allowing it to hold a sharper and durably acute edge. Mora knives are made from high-quality Sandvik steel. Sandvik knife steels are characterized by ultra-fine carbides that result in superb forging and hardening properties. The absence of large carbide deposits promotes excellent edge sharpness for optimum cutting performance.

In the beginning Frost-Erik only made knives for use within the factory, but production would soon start to grow. The term Morakniv was already well known at the end of the 1900’s, due to the area’s long tradition of manufacturing. Knives from Mora had made their way to users around the country by travelling tradesmen, or through bartering. With the founding of the factory, production could grow and more and more knives could be delivered across Sweden and the world.
